KEY ELEMENTS OF A BOHO STYLE

Boho style element #1. Macramé

Macramé is the art of tying knots or cords together. I absolutely think that macramé is one of the style elements that sets a boho room apart from other designs. It can add flair and texture, and make your room so unique. Just look how the large macramé tapestry of Mel from crazy.beautiful.living becomes the head turner in this room.

Morocco is a country in western North Africa situated near the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Boho design is widely influenced by Moroccan culture and architecture: you can see a lot of reclaimed wood, beautifully designed mosques, colorful fabrics, and intricately designed and arched doorways.

BEST ITEMS TO CREATE YOUR BOHO BEDROOM

Want to achieve a colorful, chic, and cozy boho bedroom? Here are some awesome stuff you can use to decorate your room.

1. Aztec-patterned, crochet, and Moroccan blankets

Use Aztec or tribal patterns for a peppy boho look. A multi-color Aztec-patterned blanket with tassels can instantly add variety and brighten up your room. Also, layering a Moroccan pom pom blanket with other blankets like fur and crochet can make your bed extra cozy, like this bedroom from kalk_katt.

With boho design, you’re free to be experimental and use different shapes, textures, and colors for your pillows. When choosing macramé pillows for your room, always look for high-quality material such as jute, yarn, cotton twine, and hemp.

Another thing, add a cute rattan mirror in your bedroom instead of a regular mirror.

5. Dreamcatcher

Have a good night’s sleep in your room with this boho dreamcatcher. Many believe that a white dreamcatcher represents light and goodness, so you can have sweet dreams every night if you hang one near or over your bed or anywhere in your room!

7. Basket-filled walls

Baskets as wall décor are a classic for boho rooms. You don’t have to limit how many baskets hang on your wall, and it would look great if you could arrange them together in one space for a more artistic vibe.

8. Boho plants

Almost all boho rooms have plants because they instantly refresh the room and bring in the “forest” or “jungle” vibe. You can add different kinds of indoor plants by hanging them on the wall or placing them on the floor or above your nightstand.

9. Macramé plant holders

A creative approach to hanging plants is to use macramé plant hangers because they can serve as wonderful wall or window ornaments.

11. Assorted boho rugs

Rugs are essential to any room because they affect the overall aesthetic of the space. There are certain things to consider when choosing a rug such as the color, shape (rectangular or round), size, material (jute, wool, flatweave, or distressed), and design (geometric, linear, or abstract patterns). Usually, for a large room, you need to have a big rug; however, with boho, you can put together smaller rugs to create a larger one.

12. Moroccan ottomans or leather poufs

Round leather poufs are very popular with boho style. You can also try hippie poufs with artistic patchwork and embroidery, which serve as footstools or floor cushions.
