Published: November 7, 2021 I HOME DECORATING

Enjoy looking through cozy nook ideas for small spaces as well as large onescorner nooks, kitchen nooks, breakfast nooks, reading nooks, and bedroom nooks.

We all need a place in our home where we can spend our chill and quiet morning breakfasts or much-needed afternoon coffee breaks, or just eat meals where we don’t need to do a major formal setup or to tidy up. And this is where breakfast and reading nooks come in handy! It’s undeniable that these small areas of the house can serve as our special cozy hangout and sanctuary at any time of the day.

That’s why we’ve prepared 24 cozy and adorable nook ideas for you to check out and draw ideas from. If you have a small home, you can make a nook serve as your dining area. Just find that corner in your home and you can transform it into a nice and comfortable nook.

Let’s begin!

A perfect traditional nook

Start your day with a delicious breakfast and some quiet time in this traditional-style nook with emphasis on neutral tones. The gray wood panel, round marble table, and metallic gold overhead lighting fixture make this nook a charming place for your early morning meal.

Don’t shy away from color

A splash of green and pale blue makes this nook more lively and interesting! Aside from the built-in seating that can accommodate more than 5 people, two smaller tables were also placed. The shelves with crown molding were constructed at both sides to maximize the area for extra storage and to include decorative pieces as well.

Open it up with lots of light

One great sight is a nook with lots of natural lighting such as this inviting nook by Kate Marker Interiors.

Maximize small spaces

This small but gorgeous nook with lots of ample space for entertaining and book storage is a result of the creativity of Cortney Bishop Design. The architectural design and colors add a masculine vibe, with small touches of femininity from the decorative pattern of the barrel chairs and ottoman. Not to mention, the high ceiling also makes this space seem larger.

A dreamy little hideaway

You’ll instantly fall in love with this gorgeous reading nook in Lakeville, Minnesota designed by Bria Hammel Interiors. The wooden beams create an illusion of a separated space, making it an awesome “hideaway” for you and your family to spend time in.

The light blue wallpaper with geometric patterns makes a beautiful focal point or backdrop to the nook. For a more comfortable prolonged seating, try using thicker cushions like the one used below instead of regular-sized cushions.

Look beyond your tiny space

Cortney Bishop Design elevated this tiny corner into a stunning and ultra-relaxing nook. Did you see the two unique chairs? If you want to level up on your chess game or just want to recreate a scene from the “The Queen’s Gambit”, you can certainly achieve this look with minimal decor pieces!

Checkmate!

A soft modern nook

A reading corner that is truly swoon-worthy from Kare Spain. This nook features monochromatic neutral hues and a mix of contemporary pieces such as a wire side table, slender floor lamp, and beige button-tufted armchair. The thick-fur area rug suggests a plush but soft look that will surely draw people in.

One-of-a-kind nook for the kiddos

This adorable rustic nook designed by O’Hara Interiors was originally a place for guests to stay in but it was also converted to a cozy hangout area for kids to play and learn in… plus some quality time with Mom and Dad for some bedtime reading!

Stylish plaid pairing

For a breakfast nook, it’s important to pick chairs that will make you want to sit back and relax. These two slip-covered plaid wingback chairs in blue really bring not just comfort but also character into this intimate space. In addition, the natural area rug and white round pedestal table topped with a decorative pitcher with lavender stems finish the French country aesthetic that is so timeless.

A homey bedroom nook corner

A corner of the bedroom is a perfect place to do some reading instead of in bed. I just love how this corner feels so calm and relaxing. What makes this nook special is the element of wood and rattan. Notice how the rattan lamp and the side table match the rattan bed. Also, instead of choosing another color, the designer picked out a striped blue arm chair to complement the aesthetic of the room.

Less is more

This all-white classic-styled nook has a simple, no-fuss look, which is ideal for casual fun weekday lounging with the family.

Contrast and a rustic country look

If you like your nook to stand out, create contrast with a dark wall! To exude a rustic country cottage feel, this nook uses vintage wall decor items and matching stripe-patterned chair cushions. The exposed wooden beams in the ceiling also contrast nicely with the white walls

Under-the-staircase sanctuary

Most homes have an area under the staircase that isn’t being utilized.

Transform your under-the-staircase area into a reading haven like this gorgeous one from Bria Hammel Interiors. The combination of the white built-in shelves and green cushions creates an inviting atmosphere that will make you fall in love with reading again. More so, you can add different stylish elements to your reading nook shelf, like a sconce for better lighting at night, memorabilia, a throw, or lots of pillows.

Warm classic hues

A dark gray interior can sometimes feel gloomy, but the leather chair brings a beautiful warmth and coziness to this classic reading nook. Aside from the leather chair, a small end table with a round top and twisted legs accommodates just the needed stuff while you’re sitting.

Modern with a touch of minimalism

The custom-made leather banquet seating is the real deal here. The entirety of the space has a touch of class and simplicity. Simply stunning design by Sarah Ellison Studio!

Beautiful in white and blue

The crisp overall white of the interior and the shade of blue from the customized seat are a great combination that makes this a super cozy nook. Take an extra look at the floating shelves with carefully chosen décor (gold canisters, vases, plus mini bar) that add more visual interest to the room.

Besides being a venue for ordinary meals, this nook can actually accommodate small holiday gatherings. When you have a place like this, who needs a formal dining area? This nook is from Brook Wagner Design.

Choose furniture with personality

The design of the furniture is also important when you want to decorate your breakfast nook. So, choose a unique-looking couch or seating such as this green tufted leather seating with tassels instead of a plain one.

Every corner is valuable

This is a testament to the idea that almost every little corner can be converted into a stylish nook. Don’t ignore the limitations in your space; instead, be creative! For example, two drawers were cleverly built under the seating area of this chair to stash away small things.

A welcoming nook in the foyer

As O’Hara Interiors describes it, “A spot that could have easily been left blank is transformed with purpose! Located in the front foyer, it naturally invites guests to sit down and take off shoes and outdoor wear as the seasons change and the weather cools down. A mix of new traditional patterns and cozy fabrics feel charming and forever welcoming.”

An adorable kitchen nook

If you have spare space in the kitchen, you can include a little desk to create a great spot for checking emails, reading some recipes, or writing something in your journal, just like what O’Hara Interiors did with this kitchen. Also, I love how the herringbone wallpaper, gray velvet chair, and marble top all come together so beautifully!

A nook big enough for the whole bunch

They say “three’s a crowd”, but not for this breakfast nook! This is perfect for seating the whole family, whether for a brunch or for just hanging out and enjoying sunny Saturday mornings.

Vintage comfort

A mix of all-wood furniture with earth-toned floral wallpaper plus a retro pendant lamp makes this nook all too comfortable for brunch. During the day, the huge windows open to a fantastic view of the lake.

Love pink!

Pink color for a nook? Why not! Check out this striking colorful modern ensemble consisting of a “hot bright pink” fabric bench, a dark marble table, and multi-color striped round ottomans.
